Welcome to The Minimalist Homebody! I am so glad you stumbled upon this humble little space. I previously ran a Christian lifestyle blog with my name as the title (the first three posts were originally written on there), but I decided to transform my blog into a space that’s all about living a minimalist lifestyle.
I have had a vision for this blog for quite a long time, and I am so happy to finally launch it. I should probably do a quick introduction for those of who you are new here:
My name is Bethany, and I’m a recent college grad and aspiring writer. I went to a small liberal arts school and have a degree in literature. I am really passionate about minimalism and all that a simple lifestyle entails. I love beautiful things and have always immensely enjoyed things like fashion and home decor, but in recent years I have grown tired of typical consumerist culture.
I want this blog to be a space that encourages you to enjoy the beautiful, simple things in life rather than endlessly chase after money and material things.
Some things you can expect to read about on the blog:
Simple Living and Hygge
The second half of my blog title is “Homebody” because I have always loved being at home. I’m naturally kind of a hermit, and there are few things I love more than sitting at home and listening to music while drinking a cup of tea. I want to help you create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your house and fully enjoy being at home.
For those of you who don’t know what hygge is, it’s this delightful Danish concept that I believe should be a part of everyone’s life. It’s basically about creating a feeling and atmosphere of coziness and comfort. Nothing goes better with minimalism than hygge, as it’s all about appreciating the simple things in life. You know that lovely, warm feeling you get when you light some candles, curl up with a book under a wooly blanket, and enjoy a hot drink? That’s hygge.
I am obsessed with fashion, but I’m not a big fan of the fashion industry. I believe that you can be trendy without being into fads, fast fashion and excess, and I want to write about fashion from a minimalist angle. I want to focus on sustainable fashion and help you consume consciously and stay fashionable on a budget. I’m going to share how you can create an intentional and curated minimalist wardrobe that reflects your style without conflicting with your code of ethics.
I believe home decor is so important for creating an inviting atmosphere in your home. There are few things I enjoy as much as home decor. I’m always looking for new decorating inspiration and making little changes in my room. I want to help you create an aesthetic and cozy home without getting drawn into excessive spending. I’m also really into plants (seriously, I have as many plants in my room as there are years to my life), so you’ll probably hear more about those.
I am passionate about living healthily when it comes to the food I eat and the products I use. There is so much junk in our culture, and so much of what we eat and use contains toxic chemicals. I want to share how I’m attempting to rid my life of unhealthy foods and products, and I want to encourage you to take better care of your body as well. I’ll discuss clean beauty, healthy eating, and other natural living topics.
I don’t know about you, but staying productive is like rocket science to me. I always need encouragement and motivation to get my shiz together. Because I believe this is a need many people have, I want to write about productivity and intentional living. I want to discuss things like routines, cleaning, bullet journaling, and lots of other intentional living topics that I believe are essential to a minimalist lifestyle.
I hope at least some of these categories are up your alley and that you’ll stick around to read my new posts. I know minimalism might come off as a trendy topic and a bandwagon that everyone is hopping on right now, but I believe it’s timeless and invaluable. After all, minimalism is all about simplifying your life so that you can focus on the things that matter to you most. I hope this little corner of the internet can help you do just that.
